Olivia murder suspect gets May 1 trial date in Renville County Court

Houston Morris, age 38, of Olivia, who has been charged with the stabbing death of a Bird Island boy last March 24, will face trial on May 1 in Renville County District Court.

Morris is charged with 2nd Degree Murder for the stabbing death of 13-year-old Isaac Hoff of Bird Island. According to the criminal complaint, Olivia police got a 911 call from Hoff, saying he had been stabbed in the chest. Police found the boy suffering from a stab wound, and he later died at the hospital in Olivia. The boy’s mother had cuts on her head and on her right hand, and bite marks on her left arm. She told police an argument with Morris had turned violent.
