A Duluth woman, April Grace Jones, age 31, was convicted in Redwood County Court this month for leaving illegal drugs in a Redwood Falls hotel room.

According to court documents, on March 20, 2020, Redwood Falls police officers were called to an area hotel on a report of a disturbance. Among those found in a room were Jones, who stated at the time she would return at a later date with law enforcement to pick up her personal property.

Eleven days later, on March 31, the hotel manager was inventorying the room for damages, and turned up suspected illegal drugs and paraphernalia, and weapons. Police officers identified methamphetamine, and several Redwood County Court papers with Jones’ name on them. Further investigation turned up that Jones had warrants out for her arrest in Renville and Hennepin Counties.

On April 11, April Grace Jones was sentenced for felony controlled substance crime in the fifth degree to 13 months at the adult correctional facility in Shakopee, stayed for five years, 90 days local confinement with credit for 60 days time served, five years supervised probation, and fines and fees of $285.
