MN Corn, Soybean Production Up

Minnesota corn production is forecast at 1.53 billion bushels, up 22% from last year, according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Crop Production report. 

Based on conditions as of November 1, yields are expected to average 202 bushels per acre, no change from the October 1 forecast but an increase of 29 bushels per acre from last year. 

Corn planted acreage is estimated at 8.00 million acres with 7.55 million acres harvested for grain. 

Soybean production is forecast at 374 million bushels, 25% above last year. 

The yield is forecast at 51.0 bushels per acre, down 1.0 bushel from the October 1 forecast but 7.0 bushels above 2019. 

Soybean planted acreage is estimated at 7.40 million acres with 7.33 million acres to be harvested. 

Sugarbeet production is estimated at 11.1 million tons, up 32% from last year. 

Yield is forecast at 26.1 tons per acre, down 2.3 tons from the October 1 forecast but up 1.1 tons from 2019. 

Acres expected to be harvested have increased 89,000 acres from last year to 425,000  acres. 

Potato production in Minnesota is forecast at 17.4 million hundredweight (cwt), down 2% from 2019. 

Yield is forecast at 420 cwt per acre, with an expected 41,500 acres harvested.
