The man charged in the 1974 murder of Mae Herman of Willmar is back in Willmar.
Algene Vossen, age 79, was arrested in Sioux Falls in July after cold-case investigators matched his DNA with blood found at the scene of Herman’s murder.
Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt says Vossen had initially been questioned in the case but not charged. But the cold case investigators narrowed their focus on him again earlier this year.
Bail has been set at $50,000 cash for Vossen, who is charged with 2nd Degree Murder for allegedly stabbing 73-year-old Mae Herman to death in her home in January 1974. His next court date in Kandiyohi County has not yet been set.
