Willmar Woman killed by train in Kandiyohi County Wednesday afternoon (updated with victim’s ID)
Marcy Swanson, age 68, from Willmar, died Wednesday after being struck by a train just outside of Kandiyohi.
On Oct. 28, at 2:17 p.m., the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a train. It was reported a person was walking on the railroad tracks east of Kandiyohi, near 98th St NE, and was struck by the eastbound BNSF train. Deputies found Swanson deceased at the scene.
Traffic in the area had to be temporarily rerouted during the on scene investigation. An ongoing investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Willmar Police Department and MN State Patrol.
