A Wisconsin man, Jeffery David Uptain, age 34, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for his part in a burglary of a Redwood Falls business last October.

According to court documents, on Oct. 12 Redwood Falls police officers were called to a reported break-in at the Wash Tub Laundromat. The owner stated that about $3,620 had been taken from the coin exchange machines, a lockbox, and several vending machines.

Surveillance video showed a car pull up to the business shortly after the owner had left. At least one of the people in the car was later spotted on video inside the building, and the car left about 20 minutes after it arrived.

The vehicle was later located in the driveway of a Redwood County residence. Sheriff’s Office deputies had already learned the vehicle was associated with a robbery in Scott County. One person in the car was apprehended. The other, Jeffrey Uptain, fled into a corn field, and was later apprehended.

On Feb. 5, Uptain was sentenced to 21 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, and fines and fees of $135.
