A Willmar teen is in the Kandiyohi County Jail facing multiple charges after a weekend shooting incident.

Willmar Police say at 4:20 a.m. Saturday they got a complaint about gunshots from the 400 Block of Julii Street Southeast. A local resident told police they saw two juvenile boys, one on foot and another on a bike, tampering with their vehicle, and when they confronted the teens, one of them fired at the resident then fled the scene. No one was injured.

Willmar Police secured the scene and began collecting evidence and conducting interviews. They learned the identity of one of the suspects and executed multiple search warrants, leading to the arrest of a 16-year-old male suspect from Willmar in the 1800 block of 7th Ave. SE. He is currently being held at a juvenile detention center for two counts of attempted 2nd degree murder, two counts of 1st degree assault and two counts of 2nd degree assault. This case remains under investigation.
