Willmar man involved in a fatal truck crash now faces sex crime charges

A Willmar semi driver involved in a fatal crash last week is in Kandiyohi County Jail on an unrelated charge.

According to KWLM, on Friday morning a car driven by 45-year-old Matthew Strauss of Hutchinson and a semi driven by 39-year-old Oscar Reyes Cruz of Willmar collided on Highway 212 west of Brownton. Strauss was killed but Reyes Cruz was not seriously injured.

Reyes Cruz is now being held on an outstanding warrant for first-degree criminal sexual conduct and assault. He is accused of attacking a woman on February 26th, and not showing up for a settlement conference in June.
