Westbrook man swallows bag of meth while fleeing Redwood County law officers
A Westbrook man, Ayden Wallace Parker, age 20, was sentenced in Redwood County Court after swallowing a bag of methamphetamine while being pursued by law enforcement.
According to court documents, on June 10 of last year, a Redwood County deputy learned a vehicle stolen from Iowa was traveling south on Highway 67. The deputy also learned the reported driver, Parker, had an active warrant for his arrest out of Cottonwood County.
The deputy spotted the vehicle and followed it for awhile, then activated his lights in an attempt to stop it. A Redwood Falls police officer deployed stop sticks in front of the stolen vehicle, but Parker drove around them and reached speeds of 80 mph while fleeing.
The vehicle was eventually pulled over in rural Redwood County, where Parker exited the vehicle and was arrested. Parker informed law enforcement he had swallowed a bag of methamphetamine during the pursuit.
On Aug. 14 Parker was sentenced to the correctional facility in St. Cloud for 17 months, and to fees and fines of $235.
