Vesta woman sentenced in Redwood County Court for assault with firearm
A Vesta woman, Jasmyn Teresa Villarreal-King, age 31, has been sentenced in Redwood County Court for felony assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to court documents, just after 3 a.m. on July 21 of last year, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to a residence near Vesta on a report of a woman with a handgun damaging several cars with a metal pipe, then with another vehicle. The caller also reported Villarreal-King had a handgun, and had fired two rounds at him.
Deputies arrived to find a Ford Explorer fleeing the residence down Crown Avenue. Deputies attempted to stop the Explorer, but it headed off toward Lyon County at 80 mph. Deputies were able to force the vehicle to a stop.
When deputies ordered Villarreal-King to exit the vehicle, she claimed she was unable to because her seatbelt was stuck. She eventually exited the vehicle and was arrested. Deputies found a handgun and ammunition on the front seat, and an open bottle of rum.
On Dec. 18, Villarreal-King was sentenced to 36 months at the correctional facility in Shakopee.
