U.S. Rep. Peterson says he’ll remain Democrat, despite GOP overtures
Congressman Collin Peterson leaning “no” on impeachment has apparently sparked efforts by the G-O-P to recruit the 7th District Democrat.
Peterson said, “There have been overtures by the highest levels of the Republican Party in the last couple weeks to ask if I would consider it, and I told ’em no.”
He says he’s not switching parties at this stage of his career and he’ll remain a Democrat, in spite of some things going on that he does not agree with.
Peterson says Democrats have not presented a solid enough case and, with little chance of the Republican-controlled Senate voting to convict the president, the process is only further dividing the country.
