Two women were injured in separate Renville County accidents due to icy roads on Thursday.

At about 9:16 a.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Co Rd 5 and 720 Ave., about four miles south of Olivia.

The preliminary investigation showed 61-year-old Connie Martinez of Fairfax, was driving a 2000 Chrysler 300 when she lost control of the motor vehicle on an icy road.  Martinez’s vehicle entered the ditch, causing minor injuries.  She was transported to Health Partners – Olivia with minor injuries by the Carris Health Ambulance Service.

Assisting on the scene were the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and the Carris Health Ambulance Service.

Several hours later, at about 12:08 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one-vehicle accident on Co 17, about two miles south of Olivia.

The preliminary investigation showed 51-year-old Leeann Hankel of Olivia, was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger when she lost control of the motor vehicle on an icy road.  Hankel’s vehicle entered the ditch and overturned She was transported with minor injuries to Health Partners – Olivia by the Olivia Ambulance Service.

Assisting on the scene were the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and the Olivia Ambulance Service.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation of both accidents.
