Two Vehicle Crash Causes Minor Power Outage in Renville County
On November 7, 2019, at approximately 7:59 pm, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a two vehicle crash near the intersection of County Road 6 and 880th Avenue. This location is approximately 5 miles north of the city of Renville in Crooks Township. The caller reported that no one appeared to be injured.
The preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by 69-year-old Gerald Erstad of Worthington, MN, and a 1973 Chevrolet Grain Truck driven by 40-year-old Nathan Sunvold of Renville, MN were traveling north bound on Renville County Road 6. Erstad attempted to pass Sunvold as Sunvold was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto 880th Avenue. Both drivers were assessed on scene by the Renville Ambulance Service, and released without injury.
As a result of the accident, a power box was damaged resulting in power outages to residents in the area of the crash. Renville-Sibley Co-Op Power was contacted to ensure the scene was safe, and to restore power to the area.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Renville Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Renville Ambulance Service, and Renville-Sibley Co-Op Power.
