Redwood man sentenced after turning himself in for Morgan car theft
A Redwood Falls man, Charles Lester Blom, age 49, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for stealing and damaging a car in Morgan.
According to court documents, on April 23, the Morgan Police Department was called to a residence in Morgan about a stolen vehicle. The owner said there was damage to the garage, and a piece of the vehicle was on the garage floor. Also, a laptop inside the vehicle had been stolen. Coincidentally, police found a cell phone across the street from the victim’s residence.
The damaged vehicle was found a short time later in a field outside the city of Morgan, with the laptop missing.
On May 6, 2021, Charles Lester Blom came into the Morgan Police Department after using an app to locate his phone there. Blom admitted he had been very drunk when he had taken the car,, and waking up outside the vehicle in a ditch. Blom stated the incident had been weighing on him, but that he wanted to own his mistakes.
On Feb. 27, 2023, Blom was sentenced for felony theft to 26 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, and fines, fees, and restitution of $1,600.
