Redwood Falls man sentenced for Morgan burglary
A Redwood Falls man, Thomas Jess Crews III, age 23, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for burglary from a Morgan residence last year.
According to court documents, on Sept. 7 Redwood County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a report that money had been taken from a safe in the Morgan area. The victim reported that he had left his residence, and gotten a phone call from a neighbor saying there was a suspicious male walking around the residence. The witness tried speaking to the male, but he got in his vehicle and drove off. The victim identified the suspect as Crews, and reported that about $350 had been taken from a safe within the residence.
A second witness reported having spoken with Crews later in the day. She stated she told him that if he returned the money, she would not call law enforcement. She said Crews stated he was never at the residence, but gave her the money, which totaled $257.
On Jan. 8, Crews was convicted of felony second degree burglary. He was sentenced to 30 days local confinement, two years supervised probation, and $385 in fines and fees.
