A Redwood Falls man, Justin Daniel Okins, age 38, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for a third degree assault that occurred earlier this year.
According to court documents, on Feb. 21, 2022, Redwood Falls police officers were dispatched to a residence on a report of an ongoing domestic assault, with the reporter claiming children were hiding in a bedroom. Officers arrived and knocked on the door, which was opened by Okins, who officers report had a small amount of fresh blood on his chin.
Okins refused to allow the officers to enter the residence, but officers walked past him and located the victim in the kitchen, where there was evidence of blood on the floor. The victim reported that Okins had assaulted her. Officers also located several children in a bedroom, one of whom reported he was the one who had called 911.
On Nov. 21, Justin Daniel Okins was sentenced for felony assault in the third degree to 120 days local confinement, supervised probation for three years, committal to the correctional facility in St. Cloud for 12 months and one day (stayed for three years), and fines and fees of $585.
