Redwood Falls man sentenced for drug possession after fleeing deputies
A Redwood Falls man, Casey Lynn Jelks Jr., age 33, has been sentenced in Redwood County Court for felony drug possession.
According to court documents, on June 16 of last year, Redwood County Sheriff’s deputies tried to locate Jelks on a warrant. As a deputy was headed toward a residence near Morton, he was flagged down by a resident who stated Jelks had gone to a neighbor’s property. When the deputy visited the neighbor’s house, he saw Jelks run through the kitchen. A witness in the house stated she did not want Jelks in her house. The deputy informed other law officers that Jelks appeared to be fleeing out the back.
Another deputy saw Jelks attempting to leave out the side door. Jelks was finally caught and dragged to the ground. He stated he had been using methamphetamine, and had both meth and marijuana on his person.
On July 17 Jelks was sentenced to 30 days local confinement, three years supervised probation, and fees and fines of $200.
