Redwood Falls felon sentenced for illegal possession of firearms
A Redwood Falls man, David Lopez Gonzalez, age 42, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for felony-level firearms possession.
According to court documents, on Aug. 26, 2023, a citizen contacted the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office to report having seen a firearm and ammunition in a vehicle owned by Gonzalez, and that Gonzalez had been driving the day before. The deputy retrieved the backpack from where the vehicle had been towed. In the backpack, the deputy found a handgun, rounds of ammunition, and an ID card and receipt for the ammunition.
Investigation showed that Gonzalez already had at least three previous felony convictions for domestic assault, and was not legally allowed to possess a firearm.
