The public is invited to attend a Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) construction open house on Thursday, March 12, to learn about the Highway 29 bridge replacement over North Parkway Drive in Montevideo.

Road construction is scheduled to begin March 16. Redstone Construction, LLC, is the contractor for the project, which is estimated to cost $1.8 million and be complete by mid-June 2020.

Benefits of the project include a new bridge with a smoother surface, the removal of oversize and overweight restrictions, and enhanced flood control measures.

A detour will be required for this project. Traffic will be routed on Chippewa County Roads 15 and 16, and U.S. Highway 212. Montevideo parks and businesses will be accessible during construction.

The open house will be held at the Montevideo Community Center (550 S. 1st St.) and run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. There is no formal presentation and guests are invited to stop by anytime during open house hours. Representatives of MnDOT and the construction contractor will be available to answer questions about the construction phase of the project, including the timeline.
