New Ulm felon convicted in Redwood County Court for illegal possession of firearm
A New Ulm man, Patrick Brian Holt, age 57, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for illegal possession of a firearm during a 2021 incident.
According to court documents, on July 9, 2021, a Redwood Falls police officer noticed a vehicle with tinted windows and burnt out license plates lights leaving what is considered a “high drug traffic area” in the city. The officer followed the vehicle to the parking lot of one business, than to another one, before approaching the vehicle. The passenger, Patrick Holt, identified himself as the owner of the vehicle, and said he had been visiting friends.
A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a .22 caliber revolver. Holt was a felon with prior convictions for drug possession.
On Jan. 22, Holt was sentenced to 60 months in the correctional facility in St. Cloud, stayed four years, 289 days local confinement, supervised probation of four years, and fines and fees of $385.
