A motorcyclist led deputies in Kandiyohi and Sterns Counties on a high speed chase north of Spicer Saturday evening.
On May 22nd, at about 11:15 p.m., a Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on routine patrol on county Road 23 north of Spicer, observed a motorcycle approaching from behind at a high rate of speed.
The deputy pulled over to the shoulder to let the motorcycle to pass by, then tried to stop the motorcyclist at the intersection of Hwy 23 and Old Mill Road. The motorcycle operator fled at speeds greater than 100 miles per hour. At that point the deputy ended the pursuit because of danger to the cyclist and the public.
At about 12:10 a.m. on Sunday, May 23, a Stearns County Sheriff’s Office found the motorcycle parked in front of McDonalds just off Hwy 23 in Paynesville. With the assistance of a Stearns County bloodhound, the motorcyclist, a 31 year old St. Cloud man, was quickly found hiding under a flatbed trailer near Yarmon Ford.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail on several traffic charges and an outstanding arrest warrant.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Paynesville Police Department and the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
