Montevideo man kills self as he was being served court papers
A Montevideo man killed himself as he was being served court papers Monday evening.
At about 8:43 p.m., Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies served a Court Paper Service to Charles Samuel Brown, age 44, of Montevideo. With deputies present, Brown retreated to a bedroom to retrieve belongings and exit the property. A single gunshot sounded from the bedroom occupied by Brown.
Deputies on scene protected a female that was also at the residence and secured the scene.
A search warrant was executed for the property and Brown was found and pronounced deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Montevideo Police Department, MN State Patrol, Clara City Police Department, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Granite Falls Police Department, Lac Qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office, Upper Sioux Police Department, West Central SWAT, Chippewa County Montevideo Ambulance, Montevideo Fire Department, and North Memorial Air Care.
