Marshall leads pack in vote for free outdoor rinks
ST. PAUL – Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, urges area citizens to help push Marshall over the top and win a free outdoor rink from the Minnesota Wild and partners.
An online vote is taking place to determine which two cities among eight finalists will receive donated rinks. Marshall has been leading the pack up to Saturday’s deadline to vote. Through Thursday morning, Marshall had approximately 30,000 votes, nearly doubling that of third-place East Grand Forks. Duluth has been in second place, around 2,000 votes behind Marshall.
Swedzinski said hockey is growing in southwestern Minnesota and this new outdoor rink would help boost available ice time and increase accessibility to the game. He encourages area residents to go online and search for “outdoor ice rink fan vote” to vote for Marshall and help win an ice-rink prize for southwestern Minnesota.
“Folks, remember to get on there and vote early, vote often, and let’s bring that rink to Marshall so, no matter where you live in southwestern Minnesota, you can benefit from that,” Swedzinski said.
