Lloyd F. Panitzke

Lloyd F. Panitzke age 89, of Redwood Falls passed away on June 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family in rural Redwood Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at St John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in the Redwood Falls Cemetery with full Military Honors. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the St John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church. The Funeral Service will be live streamed on https://www.youtube.com/stjohnrwf

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. John Lutheran School in Redwood Falls.

Lloyd Ferdinand Panitzke, the son of Herman Gustav and Mabel Johanna (Zubke) Panitzke was born on August 19, 1934, on the family farm in Redwood Township, Redwood County. He grew up on the farm and received his education in district 631 country school. Lloyd was inducted into the Navy in March 1956. He was in Great Lakes training and later stationed in San Diego thereafter serving on the USS Cowell 547 as a fireman until his discharge on December 23, 1957.

On June 14, 1958, Lloyd married Loretta Hansen at St. John Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Lloyd worked as a farm hand until moving to a farm southwest of Redwood Falls, where he farmed until 1966 when they moved to the farm west of Redwood Falls, living and farming there until death.

Lloyd raised sweet corn and peas for Del Monte and the Sugar Beets for 35 years – Lloyd retired in 2013. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and with Loretta traveled to Texas where they spent 2 months each winter.

Lloyd was a lifelong member of St John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls where he served on the finance committee. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Farmers Elevator of Redwood Falls and Board of Directors at the Southwest Minnesota Sugar Beet factory in Renville, Minnesota.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta; children, Douglas of Little Falls, James (Michelle) of Helena, MT, Scott of Redwood Falls, Lisa of Marshall, Brian of Redwood Falls and Chad (Lynn) of Redwood Falls; grandchildren, Benjamin (Kears), Christina (Jason), Alysa (Justin), Keysha (Seth), Tyler, Tangela, Sofia and Heather; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Dominick, Gracelyn, Charlie, Landyn, Benton, Mika, Briella, Taya and one on the way; brothers, Leroy (Rosemary) Panitzke, Donald “Pete” (Judy) Panitzke, Dennis (Lois) Panitzke; sisters, Doris Valentin and Darlene Dallman; sister-in-law, Joan Hansen  and many other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gilbert (Treonne) Panitzke and Dean Panitzke; nephew Todd Dallman; brother-in-law, Walter Valentin.
