Law enforcement investigating suspected human remains found in burning car near Bird Island Sunday
Area and state law enforcement are investigating suspected human remains found in a burned vehicle near Bird Island on Sunday afternoon.
On Dec. 4, at about 1 p.m, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burned vehicle in a drainage ditch in the 81000 block of 370th St., about one mile west of Bird Island.
Law enforcement found a vehicle that had been fully consumed by fire. Inside the vehicle, suspected human remains were discovered. The suspected human remains were sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and determination of the cause and manner of death.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Minnesota BCA, Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Minnesota State Patrol.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota BCA, and Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing the investigation.
