Kidnapping phone scam calls reported in Redwood area

Redwood Falls Police Department stated Wednesday it has gotten two separate reports of citizens receiving phone calls from a person claiming to have kidnapped their child and demanding ransom. Both calls displayed a phone number starting with 52, which is the county code for Mexico.

At this time the Redwood Falls Police Department has not confirmed whether the calls originated in Mexico or if an Internet based phone was used to place the call.
