Hostage situation ends peacefully near Madison
A person was arrested after a hostage situation in Lac Qui Parle County Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday they got a call about a person in a home north of Madison who had a firearm and was making threats. Deputies responded and were able to evacuate one person from the home. After a few hours a second person was secured and arrested without incident.
The sheriff’s office says this is an open investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
Assisting the sheriff’s office was The Minnesota State Patrol, Appleton Police, Madison and Appleton Ambulance, the Swift and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Offices and the West Central Area SWAT Team.
