The Friends of the Arts group in Renville now has a home of their own. Bev Raske with Friends of the Arts says they have purchased the United Methodist Church in Renville for one dollar, plus lawyer’s fees for the transfer costs.

According to KWLM, the arts group will hold their first meeting in their new headquarters on Thursday. Raske says they will talk about what will need to be done to the building before it can be used. The oldest part of the church is around 140 years old.

Raske, who attended the church as a child, says services were still taking place up to last summer, and it has a good furnace and a newer roof. They hope to eventually perform plays in the church, perhaps have an art gallery, and have classes for things like quilting, painting, scouting activities and more.
