Eugene Edward Feige was born on January 23, 1937 to Walter and Margaret (Elbert) Feige in Lamberton, MN. He was one of six children. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1955. Eugene served his country in the United States Navy. Following his service, he worked at the Winthrop Bakery for a few years. On August 23, 1958, he was united in marriage to Katherine Hillesheim at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. Their marriage was blessed with three children. They lived in Sleepy Eye and Granite Falls before settling in Hector in 1965. Together as a family they went on camping trips to Lake Le Homme Dieu near Alexandria for many years and spent time fishing in the summer and on the ice in the wintertime on various lakes in Minnesota. Eugene worked in auto parts for many years and then in road construction. Eugene liked to play cards and in their younger years, he and Kathy enjoyed couples bowling in Fairfax and Olivia. He was very particular; when it came to mowing and snow removal he was a perfectionist. His way was the only way to do it. His ideal day consisted of enjoying time outside listening to the radio while tending to his flowers while picking up a stray stick or pulling random weeds that he saw. Eugene liked watching Saturday Night Live and the Danny O’Donnell Show at their scheduled show times. He will be remembered for being a quiet man whose attention to detail was unmatched.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children: Cindy (and Gary) Fredrickson of Buffalo Lake, Darla Stark of Hutchinson, and Daniel (and Sarah) Feige of Hector; his six grandchildren: Justin (and Kelsey) Fredrickson, Ryan (and Kaitlyn) Fredrickson, Jamie Stark Donovan, Steven Stark, Nick (and Brett) Feige, and Jordyn Feige (and fiancé, Donovan McGinley-Colman); his 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Donnie (and Sherry) Feige, Marlene Roepke, and Edward (and Margie) Feige; and his sister-in-law, Mona Feige. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; and sister, Jeanette Weidner.
Blessed Be His Memory
