Cross-country skier falls through lake near Spicer Wednesday
A cross-country skier fell through a lake near Spicer on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, at about 3:25, John Woodhall, age 73, of rural Spicer fell through the ice on the east side of Elkhorn Lake. Deputies arrived as Woodhall was being pulled out of the lake by a member of the Atwater Ambulance who happened to be in the area.
Woodhall was about 15-20 feet offshore when the witness saw him fall through the ice.
Assisting on the scene were the Spicer Fire Department and First Responders, the New London Fire Department and Ambulance, and the Kandiyohi County Rescue.
