County Sheriffs’ Offices, SWAT team, team up to bring in domestic assault suspect in Sacred Heart Sunday
Several county sheriff’s offices cooperated to bring in a domestic violence suspect Sunday morning.
According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, it was contacted by the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office on March 3 at about 10 a.m. Dispatchers said a 43 year old male suspect in a felony-level domestic assault case had fled the scene in Granite Falls, and was likely at a residence in Sacred Heart.
Renville County deputies visited the Sacred Heart residence, but weren’t able to make contact with the suspect. Believing the suspect was inside, they set up a perimeter around the home. When deputies learned the suspect might be in possession of firearms, they contacted the Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Emergency Unit SWAT team.
SWAT team negotiators were able to make telephone contact, and arranged his surrender. He was taken into custody at about 2:24 p.m.
The suspect was assessed at the scene by the Granite Falls Ambulance Service and custody of the suspect was transferred to the Granite Falls Police Department, who transported him to the Chippewa County Jail.
Agencies assisting the Renville County Sheriff’s Office with the incident included the Granite Falls Police Department, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, MN State Patrol and the MN Dept of Natural Resources.
