Bird Island house catches fire Sunday evening
An Olivia couple’s residence in Bird Island caught on fire Sunday evening.
On Jan. 14, at about 8:17 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a house fire at 220 4th Street, in Bird Island. That residence is owned by Larry & Gloria Gunderson of Olivia.
Firefighters discovered smoke coming from a bedroom located on the northwest side of the residence. Fire crews worked to save the structure. The house sustained fire and smoke damage. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
In addition to the fire departments, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Olivia Police Department, Bird Island MRU, Olivia and Hector Ambulance responded to and assisted at the scene.
