Accused Willmar arsonist found incompetent to stand trial
A Willmar woman accused of trying to burn down several government buildings has been found incompetent to stand trial. A review hearing for 59-year-old Linda Wandersee-Callanan was cancelled Tuesday after the results of a Rule 20, or mental competency, exam were released that showed her unable to participate in her own defense.
According to KWLM, Wandersee-Callanan is charged with seven counts of Attempted Second Degree Arson. She is no longer listed as an inmate at the Kandiyohi County Jail, and her future disposition is unknown.
Wandersee-Callanan was arrested Jan. 15, accused of trying to start fires at the Willmar Fire Station, Kandiyohi County Courthouse, Willmar City Hall, a law office, a dental office, and two CentraCare Health clinics.
Records show Wandersee-Callanan has a significant recent mental health history with a number of complaints against government institutions and healthcare facilities.
