The Brown County Sheriff’s Office said a “major catastrophe” was avoided Wednesday after a train collided with a semi-truck hauling propane.

On Feb. 19, at about 12:37 p.m., a Central Region Cooperative (CRC) semi-truck towing a full propane tank collided with a train on the tracks near the intersection of County Road 7 and Center Street in Cobden. As of Wednesday evening, teams were still working to clean up at the scene.
