The Minnesota Department of Transportation on Tuesday awarded over $5 million in funding for three upcoming highway infrastructure projects in southwestern Minnesota.
In District 8, which covers from Redwood Falls to Marshall, Montevideo, and Willmar, the state awarded Kandiyohi County $960,000 to add left turn lanes at the intersection of County Roads 23 and 1; $1.6 million for a roundabout at the intersection of US Highway 212 and Morningside Drive, and $2,560,000 for a roundabout at the intersection of US. Highway 12 and County Road 15.
The awards are part of a second round of transportation funding offered to Minnesota cities, counties, ports, airports, MnDOT Districts and railroads through the competitive Minnesota Highway Freight Program. The first round of MHFP funding was awarded in 2017.
MnDOT received 34 applications requesting a total of $178 million during this second round of MHFP funding.
