A home explosion last week near Marshall is now blamed for a second death.

On Thursday, Aug. 27, authorities were called to a report of a burning house on the 2800 block of State Highway 19, about two miles east of Marshall. KSFY-TV said it received reports of people feeling the explosion that leveled the home at least two miles away.

Gail Schipansky, age 74, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife, 71 year old Nancy Schipansky, was transported from the scene with serious injuries. The Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall has since reported Nancy Schipansky died Wednesday at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion, working with the Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office.
