Robert T. Pendleton age 79 of the Lower Sioux Community, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Olivia Health Care Center. Visitation will be held from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. A private family funeral service will be held. Interment is in the St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Cemetery. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, GUESTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK and practice social distancing guidelines. A 50% indoor occupancy restriction will be maintained. Robert T. Pendleton was born July 11, 1941 in Pipestone, MN to Earl Pendleton and Elizabeth Westerman Leith. Bob was a tremendous athlete and lettered in all his sports in school, before graduating from Morton High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Janet Ann Schmidt in Hennepin County. Bob worked as a Jobs Coordinator for the Ceta Programs at the American Indian Center in Minneapolis. Throughout high school and during his time in Minneapolis, Bob enjoyed playing and managing basketball and softball teams. In 1985, he returned to his home at the Lower Sioux Reservation where he has resided since. Bob served on the Lower Sioux Tribal Council for a number of years. He loved dancing to Rock and Roll music, and especially Elvis Presley. He enjoyed entertainment at the casino and spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed classic cars, especially his Cadillacs.
Bob is survived by his sister Loretta Oliver of Redwood Falls, children Anita Pendleton and Ronald Pendleton both of the Lower Sioux, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Robin and Reginald, and siblings: Russell Pendleton, Vivian Pendleton, Fred Pendleton, Marion Pendleton, Wallace Pendleton, Douglas Pendleton, Lois Brewer, Marvin Pendleton, and Morris Pendleton.
