Redwood, Renville, and Lac Qui Parle are among the counties in Minnesota whose residents owe the most in taxes per capita.
SmartAsset, a national firm which helps Americans make calculations about their finances, released the results of their 2021 study on Friday. Using public information from the IRS, SmartAsset analyzed which counties in Minnesota where residents receive the highest tax refunds, as well as counties that owe the most after filing their taxes.
Lac Qui Parle County was ranked number one in Minnesota, with residents owing an average of slightly over $8,000 in taxes, while receiving an average of about $2,400 in refunds. Renville County ranked fourth, with residents paying an average of slightly over $6 ,500 in taxes, while receiving an average of nearly $2,500 in refunds. Redwood County ranked ninth in Minnesota, with residents paying an average of slightly over $5,600 in taxes, while receiving nearly $2,500 in refunds.
