A currently-unidentified person was airlifted from Walnut Grove Tuesday after being buried in a load of grain.
On April 6, at about 10:17 a.m., the Walnut Grove Fire Department and Ambulance were dispatched to the Meadowland’s Farmers Coop in Walnut Grove for a report of a grain entrapment.
Prior to arrival, Walnut Grove Fire Department Chief Andy Foster requested mutual aid. On the scene, verified a victim was trapped under the grain and began extraction efforts. About an hour later the victim was extricated, and care was transferred to EMS staff on scene. The patient was treated on the scene, then air-lifted to Sioux Falls.
Assisting in this rescue was the Redwood County Sheriffs Office, MN State Patrol, MN Department of Natural Resources, Walnut Grove Ambulance, Tracy Ambulance, Centra Care Ambulance Redwood Falls, Life Link of Willmar, Walnut Grove Fire Department, Tracy Fire Department, and Lamberton Fire Department.
