Winifred Churchill, age 82, of Lamberton, MN died on July 9, 2022, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in, Lamberton, MN.

Service will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 11:00 am.

The clergy will be Chaplain Noel Wetter. Interment will be at the Lamberton Cemetery.

Winifred Ann (Hutchinson) Churchill was born on May 19, 1940, in Emmet County Iowa to Fred (Charles) and Blanche Hutchinson. Winifred graduated from Walnut Grove High School as the salutatorian in the class of 1958. On August 23, 1958, she was united in marriage to Chester Churchill, at the Lamberton Methodist Church. In 1973, the couple moved to rural Lamberton and started farming. Winifred had several jobs during her life. She was a beautician in the early 60’s. She was an organist, the secretary, and directed the Junior Choir for Our Saviors Lutheran Church for many years. She served as para-professional in the Red Rock Central Public Schools for 20 years, assisting teachers in the lower elementary grades and teaching computer classes. In her later years, she had an instrumental part of two Lutheran Ministry Programs that support ministries in rural communities. For 20 years, Winifred served as a co-chairman with PEG (Placement Education Guidance), a non-profit organization that assists in the placement of pastoral candidates in rural communities. She also assisted for 15 years in the administration of Beyond the River Academy, which supports individuals recognized by a congregation to develop their gifts for ministry. Winifred was a Master Gardner and enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. She also enjoyed reading, music, playing cards and spending time with her family and grandkids.

She is survived by her children: Barbara Churchill of Sartell, Steven (Judy) Churchill of Revere, Marjorie (Steve) Smith of Lakeville, Daniel (Nicole) Churchill of Maple Grove, and Kathleen (Joel) Fenger of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and Brother Harold (Marie) Hutchinson of Revere. Preceding her in death was her husband Chet Churchill, parents Fred & Blanche Hutchinson, and siblings Wayne Hutchinson, Delores Hutchinson, Mary Sykora, and Kathleen Hutchinson.
