A public graveside service for Wallace “Wally” Stage, 84, of Redwood Falls, will be Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Redwood Falls Cemetery. A viewing for the public will be Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Please bring your own chair to the cemetery if you would prefer to be seated during the service. A recording of the service will be available later at www.sunsetfuneralassociation.com.

Wallace “Wally” Edwin Stage was born on July 11, 1937, on the family farm in Granite Rock Township, to Edwin and Alma (Lee) Stage. Wallace was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Seaforth, and he graduated from Wabasso High School. Wallace served in the Army National Guard from May 1960 until his honorable discharge in May 1966. On March 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Janice Kletscher at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. The couple raised their six children on the family farm. They milked cows until 1990, and the couple retired to Redwood Falls in 1995. Wallace was on the board of directors for AMPI and Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association for many years.

In his free time, Wallace enjoyed visiting with family and friends at the lake where they had a camper. He enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone. He was a skilled carpenter, spending countless hours in the shop building wood crafts. Wallace collected pedal tractors and toys for over 60 years, and he enjoyed rebuilding and painting them. Wallace also enjoyed going to auctions, polka music, bird watching, and puzzles. He especially loved time spent with his grandchildren.

Wallace died on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Carris Health Redwood Falls Hospital. He is survived by his wife Janice of Redwood Falls; children Tammy (Wade) Plotz of Redwood Falls, Sherry (Kevin) Vik of Hutchinson, Jody (Jerry) Rindfleisch of Redwood Falls, Mark (Tasha) Stage of Tyler, Lonnie Stage of Hanska, and Terri (Doug) Lawrenz of Lucan; grandchildren Justin (Tricia) Baune, Dan (Kayla) Plotz, Jason (Amanda) Plotz, Brandon (Jacki) Vik, Tyler Vik, Scott Rindfleisch, Jacob Rindfleisch, Nicole (Luke) Veith, Derrick (Jenna) Stage, Dustin (Jamie) Stage, Dylan (Jasmine) Stage, Danicka Stage, Garett (Sierra) Stage, Kristen (Jamey) Flemming, Dean Slama, Joshua (Samantha) Lawrenz, Jesse Lawrenz, Holden (Samantha) Lawrenz, and Ashley Lawrenz; 23 great-grandchildren; brother Milan (Jeanette) Stage of Vesta; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
