Virgil Joseph Kapsner

Virgil Joseph Kapsner, age 85 of Redwood Falls, MN passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Parkview Senior Living in Belview, MN.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, with burial to follow in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church with Rosary at 11:30 a.m.

He was born on January 20, 1938 in Granite Township, Minnesota. Virgil was a beloved member of his community and his church, St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

Virgil attended district 62 country school and later graduated from Onamia high School. In time, he earned a master’s degree in education. Virgil had a passion for fixing things and was known to have a natural talent for it. He shared this talent with his students during his career as a teacher until he retired in 1994.

Virgil loved the great outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and camping. He made many fond memories outdoors that he treasured greatly throughout his life. Family was especially important to him; he leaves behind many cherished memories for all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving children Ted Kapsner, Cary (Darrell) Dorn, Andy Kapsner, Betty Kapsner, Judy (Lance) Klapak and son in-law Tom Shannon; along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, sister Alice (Gerry) Lange, sister-in-law Marie Kapsner.

He is preceded in death by wife Grace, daughter Cheri, two brothers and seven sisters.
