Steven Melvin Bakker, age 65, of Renville, died Friday, October 9, 2020, at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.  A private family funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Renville.  The service will be livestreamed via Facebook on Ebenezer Presbyterian Church’s Facebook page.  The service will also be broadcast on a FM radio transmitter that can be reached in the church parking lot, so you can join from your car at the church.  An interment service, open to public, will be held following the service (approximately at 11:30 a.m.) in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville, masks will be required.

Steven Melvin Bakker was born on July 23, 1955, in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Melvin and Lois Jean (Hokanson) Bakker.  He grew up on the family farm north of Renville and graduated from Renville High School in 1973.  Steve continued his education at the Willmar Vo-Tech in the Radio Electronics Program.  He then attended at Willmar Community College receiving an A.A. degree in Business Administration.  Following his schooling, Steve worked at Pat’s T.V and VSC, Inc. in Clara City, the Wren House Motel, and for Cenex in Renville.  The past few years, Steve has been helping at Circle Boutique in Renville.  He was an active member at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, serving as elder, deacon, treasurer, and Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was a voracious reader-especially science fiction, and he enjoyed history, genealogy, movies, and antiques.

Steve is survived by his brothers: Doug (and Sharon) of Willmar, John of Renville, and Dick (and Margaret) of Marshall; five nieces and one nephew; and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
