Sharon King

Sharon Rose (Wetzel) King, age 77 of Belview, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at CentraCare Rice Hospital in Willmar. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24 at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 at the church and will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Olivia Cemetery. Sharon Rose (Wetzel) King was born in Willmar, Minnesota on January 24, 1946 to Walter and Dorothy (Hotovec) Wetzel. She was baptized February 17, 1946. Sharon graduated from Olivia High School in 1964 and then attended school for cosmetology. Sharon lived and worked in the twin cities before moving back home. She was married to Kenny Muetzel for 19 years. Sharon owned and operated a beauty salon in Danube. She later worked for Control Data in Redwood Falls, which later became Zytec and Artisyn. On January 14, 1989, Sharon was united in marriage to Leon King at the Alliance Church in Echo. Sharon was a deacon at church and often served juice and coffee following Sunday services. She belonged to the Triple T Saddle Club, Redwood Valley Riders Saddle Club and Valley Riders of Granite Falls Saddle Club. She was a 4-H mom. Sharon loved her flower gardens and gardening, mowing lawn, fishing and camping. She enjoyed going to horse shows and trail rides in the area parks. Sharon had dogs that she adored spending time with. She raised and butchered chickens. Her indoor activities included sewing, embroidery, quilting, and baking angel food cakes for people.

Sharon is survived by her husband Leon King of 34 years; daughter Shannon Muetzel of Redwood Falls; granddaughter Yordanka Muetzel of Redwood Falls; siblings: David (Mary) Wetzel of Browerville, Kenny Wetzel of Spicer, Mya Wetzel (special friend Kathy McLeod) of St. Joseph, Paul (Sharon) Wetzel of Mankato, and Lee (Alice) Wetzel of Chesapeake, VA; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Emily Wetzel, and sister-in-law Elaine Wetzel.
