Ruth Trochlil
Ruth Trochlil, age 97, of Olivia, MN died Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Joe Steinbeisser as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. Aloysius Catholic Church or Renville County Hospice. Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.
Ruth Marie Trochlil was born July 7, 1927 on the family farm in Osceola Township, rural Bird Island, MN to Fred and Mary (Brey) Bleck. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1945. Ruth married LeRoy Trochlil on January 12, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. They made their home on a farm in Henryville Township, rural Olivia and were blessed with five children. She was a dedicated farm wife and enjoyed time spent with her family, especially frequent trips to Ramsey Falls in Redwood. Ruth was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, volunteering with the CCW. She loved sewing and quilting, crocheting, reading, playing cards, and Sudoku puzzles. Ruth liked polka dancing and watching the Minnesota Twins. Her home baked apple pies and cookies were a family favorite. Ruth and LeRoy moved off of the farm to Fairview Place in Olivia. Ruth later transitioned to Meadows on Main in Renville and eventually RenVilla Nursing Home where she passed away.
Ruth is survived by her five children: Steve (and Frieda) Trochlil of Grand Junction, CO, Dan (and Barb) Trochlil of Danube, Greg Trochlil (and Peter Shannon) of Southwick, MA, Gail (and Gary) Myhre of Spicer, and Lois (and Brad) Harne of St. Charles; her eight grandchildren: Jill, Tom (and Lisa), Bennett (and Susan), Erin (and Jake), Kelly (and Daniel), Lindsey (and Tim), Paige, and Ethan (and Erin); her 16 great-grandchildren; and her four great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy; two great-grandchildren and sister Dorothy Scholl.
