Ruth enjoyed ice skating, and she taught her daughters and grandchildren to skate as well. In her free time, Ruth like to read and play piano and card games. She enjoyed hosting the family for holidays and get-togethers. Ruth and Dale traveled many places together, visiting much of the United States, as well as England. Ruth lived on the farm until 2015, when she moved briefly to Boulder Estates in Marshall, before moving to Avera Morningside Heights in 2017.
