Rosella C. Windschitl

Rosella C. Windschitl age 100, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on August 5, 2022, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11:00 am.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 9 to 11 am at the church in the North Entrance.

The clergy will be Father Mark Steffl.

Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.

Please join the family at the St. Mary’s School Cafeteria for a time of fellowship following the burial.

Rosella Clara Windschitl was born on June 18, 1922 in Comfrey, MN to Fred & Louisa (Hinderman) Suess. Rosella married Sylvester Windschitl on June 27, 1945 at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, MN. They lived in the Leavenworth, Comfrey and Sleepy Eye areas. This marriage was blessed with 5 children. Rosella was a homemaker, later she did seasonal work at Del Monte in Sleepy Eye and was one of the original Haas Press workers which recently became Koozie Group where she was employed into her late 70’s. Rosella also did cooking and catering with the St. Mary’s Catering Ladies into her 90’s. After her retirement from AUI she worked for St. Mary’s School in the lunch program. She was also active in Catholic Aid and the Christian Mothers. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rosella also loved gardening and canning and later in life flower gardening. She especially enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always interested in what they were doing.

Rosella is survived by her children, Gloria Helget of Sleepy Eye, Mary Lou (Jerry) Mathiowetz of Comfrey, Darlene (Kenny) Tauer of Sleepy Eye, Jane (Leon) Portner of New Ulm, daughter-in-law, Joan Windschitl of Webster City, IA, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 7 step great-great grandchildren, sisters, Marie Evers, Cecelia Zwaschka, Marge Prokosch and sisters-in-law, Verna Suess, Mary Ann Schumacher, Betty Zwaschka and Marilyn Windschitl. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sylvester, son, Eugene Windschitl, grandson, Aaron Windschitl, son-in-law, Ronald E. Helget, brothers, Norbert, Donald, Alfred, Jim, sisters, Leona Suess, Delores Zwaschka, Hildegard Lowinske, Adeline Svoboda, sisters and brothers-in-law, Donald Lowinske, Roman Zwaschka, Richard Zwaschka, Walter Evers, Tom Prokosch, Connie Suess, Martha Fredin, mother and father-in-law, Fred & Catherine (Reminger) Windschitl, brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin (Betty), Raymond, Richard (Evelyn), Eleanor (Sylvester) Sellner and Mildred (Edwin) Lang.
