Richard A. Steffen

Richard A. Steffen, Age 65, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at his home in Franklin, Minnesota. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton, Minnesota with burial at a later date in the Morton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the church.

Richard Allen Steffen, the son of Henry and Florence (Kropp) Steffen, was born on August 30, 1957 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Richard attended Morton school and graduated from Morton High School in 1976. In 1976 he attended Mankato Technical college.  He married Diane Robben on May 6, 1978, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Morton, Minnesota. They lived in New Ulm, Redwood Falls and then moved to Franklin in 1980 to raise their family. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morton. Richard worked at Schweiss Bi-Fold Doors for 19 years retiring in December of 2020.

He loved bowling with Diane in the early years of their marriage and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Richard enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, the Minnesota Viking, and helped operate a wrecker at the Redwood Falls Speedway.

He is survived by his children; daughter, Stacy Dickman of Redwood Falls; son, Brian (Rachel) Steffen of Akron, Ohio; son, Jason Steffen of Wabasso; daughter, Jennifer (Andrew) Sorensen of Redwood Falls; and son, Michael Steffen of Redwood Falls; three grandchildren, William Steffen, Logan Steffen and Cayden Steffen; and a sister, Faye Vanderlouw of New Ulm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane Steffen; brothers, Orlo Steffen, Larry Steffen and John Steffen.
