Rebecca Grace Lingl was born November 8, 1941 in Morgan, MN, to Albert and Lorretta (Irlbeck) Billmeier. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bird Island and furthered her education at St. Joseph’s in Mankato where she received her LPN. She worked as a nurse at the clinic as well as the Bird Island Manor and RCCR Homes, retiring in 2015 with over 40 years in the healthcare field. Becky was united in marriage to John “Gus” Lingl on June 6, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. They made their home on the farm in rural Bird Island with their three daughters. Countless family memories were made at Big Kandiyohi Lake dating back to 1992 and on many cruises. Becky was an active member in her community, part of the Red Hat Society and the Women’s Legion Auxiliary. She was also a faithful and dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she volunteered her time delivering Living Faith Books and helping as part of the CCW. Becky enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends as well as playing cards, especially pinochle and bridge, and testing her luck at the casinos. Her ‘social butterfly’ personality helped her to grow many new friendships as she loved visiting with everyone; a stranger was just a friend she hadn’t met yet. Becky’s immeasurable love of her grandchildren showed in how proud she was of each of them. Spending any amount of time with them, whether it was supporting them at their events or simply baking cookies for the holidays, brought her the most joy. Her kind heart and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved dearly.
Becky is survived by her daughters: Deb (and Scott) Howell of North Fort Myers, FL and their children Trista and Cora; Denise (and Keith) Johnson of Hector and their children Kiana (and significant other, Neal Wagner) and Stefan (and significant other, Taylor Stegman); Lisa Mead of Atwater (and significant other, Joel Slagter) and her daughter Shayla (and fiancé, Nolan Van Den Einde); her brothers, Gary (and Diane) Billmeier of Grapevine, TX and Randy (and Sue) Billmeier of Bird Island, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Becky was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John “Gus”; infant son, Brian Lingl; and brother, Robert Billmeier.
Blessed Be Her Memory
