Raymond E. Rothmeier
Raymond E. Rothmeier, 58, of Sleepy Eye died December 11, 2020 peacefully at his home after a courageous five year battle against cancer.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.
Due to Covid 19, visitation will be a “walk through” visitation to avoid congregating or gathering inside the building. All who attend are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing guidelines.
Service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:00 am.
The clergy will be Father Mark Steffl. A private family interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Ray was born December 12, 1961 in New Ulm, MN to Raymond W. and Lorraine (Baune) Rothmeier.
He graduated high school from Morgan Public High School and furthered his education at Hutchinson Vocational School for diesel mechanic. Ray spent many years working at Martinka Motors in New Ulm as an ASE Certified Mechanic before starting his own business, Ray’s Country Repair, LLC. Ray was known to be able to fix anything but working on Dodge vehicles is what he enjoyed most.
Ray married Tammy Klingler on September 6, 1986 at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. The couple lived in rural Sleepy Eye for the last 29 years where Ray enjoyed raising various animals, baling hay, and making wood. Ray had a special love for horses.
Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching old westerns, playing cards, and visiting with friends. Ray was happiest when he was spending time with his family, he loved his children and especially adored his grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife Tammy; children Raymond “Joe” (Becky) Rothmeier of Sleepy Eye, Jenny (Jon) Krebs of Belfield, ND, Jared (Andrea) Rothmeier of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren Paige, Preston, Peyton, and Parker; siblings Judy Guetter, Ginny (Patrick) Haala, Ken Rothmeier, Betty (Alan) Wilhelmi, Bill (Eileen) Rothmeier. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond W. and Lorraine Rothmeier and brother Stephen Rothmeier.
Ray was a wonderful man, husband, father, and grandfather and his presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to family wishes.
